Lots of asphalt, walnut, licorice and blackberry character. Full body, chewy and tannic with loads of structure and tension. Muscular and poised. Needs four or five years more of aging. Solid. (5/2017)

After a fine growing season with even ripening, 2012 yielded a large crop of generous and opulent wines. The nose, while still reserved, is indeed sumptuous with hefty oak aromas as well as blackcurrant and black cherry fruit. The attack is surprisingly soft, with fine-grained tannins, but the concentration accelerates into a textured and spicy palate with mint chocolate tones and black fruits. It expands on the balanced and long finish, showing more complexity and weight. Drinking window 2019 - 2040 (SB) (2/2019)

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The deep ruby/purple-colored 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve Georges de Latour is BV’s flagship wine. It boasts sweet notes of charcoal, burning embers, vanillin, tar and copious quantities of blackcurrant fruit. In keeping with this generously endowed vintage, the wine is supple, full-bodied, multidimensional and opulent. It will drink beautifully young and last for 20-25 years. There is no question that Beaulieu Vineyards, an iconic estate in Rutherford that made so many great Cabernet Sauvignons in the fifties, sixties and early seventies, is returning to form. A lot of the credit must go to the brilliant international wine consultant, Michel Rolland, who works primarily on the Private Reserve program. The current group of 2012s showcase that beautiful vintage very nicely. (RP) (10/2014)
