"La Rioja Alta was founded in the town of Haro in 1890. They own 450 hectares of vineyard from which their entire portfolio is sourced, predominantly Tempranillo complemented by Graciano, Mazuelo and Garnacha...Quite simply, these are some of the finest Riojas that can grace your cellar: complex, refined, classic but without compromising fruit intensity and to reiterate: wines that speak about where they come from." - Neal Martin (Wine Advocate)

The basic grape variety for the Viña Arana is Tempranillo (95%) with 5% Mazuelo from the El Palo and Las Monjas vineyards in Rodezno. Estate-owned vineyards planted on loamy soils in 1973.

"Classic nose with savoury character over a sweet spices background with elegant cigar box notes. Quite mouth-watering with a full body and chewy mid-palate. 97 points" - Decanter, May 2019

"Brambleberries, licorice, dried blueberries, cedar, tobacco, smoke, vanilla, dried citrus and even a hint of grapefruit. The lazer-sharp acidity evinces a real sense of purity, and the tannins are really edgy and structured. Full-bodied but very elegant and stylish. The finish goes on and on, thanks to the shimmering acidity. Beautiful now, but better in 2024. 95 points." - James Suckling (July 2019)
