2014 Aurelien Verdet Morey St. Denis (750ml)15 0 0 0
I have serious doubts about the 2026 drinking date. This wine is drinking beautifully right now: silky mouthfeel while (almost miraculously) being incredibly light on its feet. There's just enough fruit coming through to balance the acidity -- a perfect complement for oilier fish such as salmon or tuna. I had it with duck breast that I cooked rare and for which I made a sauce with sautéed shallots and garlic, home-made poultry stock, Port, red wine and multiple herbs from my garden. Perfect! On day two, it's still doing nicely but the acid is starting to stick out a bit. I would strongly recommend drinking it over the next couple of years and not waiting until 2026, unless you like super-mature Burgundies with just a hint of fruit left.
