A blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Syrah, the 2015 The Lovers is one of the most successful renditions of this cuvée that I can remember tasting. Notes of currant fruit, cocoa nib, plums, tobacco and subtle cedar mingle in a complex bouquet. It's a medium to full-bodied, sapid wine with a deep core of fruit complemented by plenty of savory nuance and framed by powdery, fine-grained tannins. Attractively fresh and delineated (which isn't always the most obvious characteristic of Walla Walla Cabernet Sauvignon), this is a very persuasive offering from Christophe Baron. (WK)  (6/2018)

Made from 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Syrah, the 2015 The Lovers was aged in roughly 40-50% new French oak 600-liter barrels. It gives up a terrific, classic bouquet of ripe black fruits, tobacco leaf, cold fireplace/ash, and spice as well as medium to full-bodied richness on the palate. It has light tannin, a seamless texture, and opens up beautifully with time in the glass. It can be drunk today or cellared for 10-15 years. (4/2018)

Bright, dark red. Aromas of black raspberry, blackberry and licorice are complicated by some gamey, truffley funkiness. Supple and fat but at the same time youthful and fresh, offering savory red berry and spice flavors. Turns distinctly tight on the back half, finishing with notes of framboise, plum and mocha and youthfully clenched, drying tannins that will require patience. Very firmly structured. The bulk of this wine is 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, which is finished off with Syrah. Aromas of moist earth, funk, black currant and herb lead to soft, smooth cherry and green pepper flavors. It possesses a lovely feel. (SS)  (12/2018)

Shows structure and focus, plus demure blackberry, black olive and smoked spice flavors that finish with refined tannins. Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. Drink now through 2023. (TF)  (8/2018)
