93 points Decanter

Deep, concentrated nose bursting with ripe black fruit concentration and herbal undertones. Fresh fruit palate, with a touch of oak spice and violets.  (11/2019)

92 points James Suckling

This shows real interest on the nose with fresh blackcurrants, ivy, tea leaf, vanilla, cloves and peppermint. Freshness comes through aplenty on the palate, which is full-bodied with structured if chewy tannins, some pretty acidity and a driven finish.  (12/2017)

91 points Vinous

Groth's 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon is a powerful, hearty wine with good depth and density, but very much in the classic, mid-weight Groth style. Dark cherry, pomegranate, smoke, tobacco, menthol, licorice and dried flowers are nicely delineated in this attractive, expressive Cabernet Sauvignon. Give the 2015 a few years in bottle for the tannin to soften. (AG)  (3/2018)

90 points Wine Enthusiast

Blended with 15% Merlot, this has a classic character of Old World savoriness, opening in a burst of cassis before becoming more well defined in cedar, clove and crayon wax. The firm tannins never distract, instead supporting a core of full-bodied roundness and plush texture. (VB) (4/2019)

Connoisseurs Guide

Not dramatically different in focus or build than its slightly tighter sibling reviewed just below, this firmly structured youngster is at present the slightly more outgoing wine of the two. It smells and tastes of cassis and cherries with accents of olives and herbs, and, if it runs into a fair bit of tannin, it is no more astringent than a solid, ageworthy, young Cabernet is wont to be. It may well be that the winery's Reserve bottling turns out to be the better wine in the long run, but we see this one as the safer bet. Time will tell.  (12/2018)

Wine & Spirits

A lovely, floral, four-square Cabernet Sauvignon, more focused on the variety than on its Oakville provenance, this is fresh and easy, a lean Cabernet to pour with roast lamb.  (2/2019)
