This traditional winery, located just southeast of the town of Montalcino, saw its first vintage in 1997, yet the family’s winemaking roots go back much farther. Giuseppe Gorelli spent 15 years as an enologist at the Consorzio del Brunello, working alongside Giulio Gambelli, as well as eleven years at his family’s estate, Due Portine, before starting Le Potazzine with his wife Gigliola. Today, Gigliola runs the estate with her two daughters, Sofia and Viola. Their fruit comes from the perfect blending of two vineyards, one in Montalcino proper, ‘Le Prata’, which brings the structure and finesse, and the other in Sant’Angelo in Colle ‘La Torre’ for the spice and power. Although only recently certified, this family has farmed organically since the beginning, and it follows a true-to-tradition regiment in the cellar, using native yeasts and aging in 30-50 hectoliters Slavonian oak." - Eric Guido (Vinous)

"Youthfully coiled, the 2021 Brunello di Montalcino requires coaxing to unlock its youthful state, as swirling unleashes nuances of dried roses, black cherries, cedar dust and sage. This is pure seduction on the palate, deeply sensual with dense waves of ripe red berry fruits and a nearly creamy feel, all balanced by vibrant acidity. It leaves the senses stained in primary concentration as an array of sweet tannins frames a slight balsamic tinge that adds a lovely punctuation to the experience. The 2021 is flat-out stunning and geared up for a long evolution. Le Potazzine has secured itself as one of the top Brunello producers vintage after vintage. (Drink between 2030-2046)" 98 - Eric Guido, Vinous (11/2025)

"Aromas of lavender, eucalyptus, wild berry and dark exotic spice form the lovely nose on the stunning Le Potazzine 2021 Brunello. Loaded with class and a rich finesse, the palate delivers layers of ripe Marasca cherry, black raspberry, licorice and fine tobacco blend. It’s nicely balanced, with taut, well integrated tannins and fresh acidity.
