"The Caprili winery and vineyards are located in Tavernelle, in the warm southwestern part of Montalcino. These vineyards were once part of the original Pieve Santa Restituta estate before being purchased by Alfo Bartolommei in 1965. They also happen to be adjacent to the vineyards of Soldera. Today the winery is run by Giacomo Bartolommei, who is very much responsible for breathing new life into the estate. Bartolommei currently oversees twenty-one hectares, positioned around 225-340 meters, and planted in sandy soils mixed with limestone and rock. The style of the house remains traditional, using native yeasts, long-ish macerations and aging all in large neutral casks. I, for one, am very happy to see the potential of this property shining through in the finished wines, something that only started taking place over the last decade. Caprili also produced one of the more successful Riservas of the 2015 vintage. The Ad Alberto Riserva hails from the estate’s original vineyard, named Madre, which was planted in the 1960s, and spends an extra year in botti prior to release." - Eric Guido (Vinous)

"A tight, refined red with red and sour-cherry aromas and flavors that are buttressed with walnut, bark and chocolate-powder character. Full-bodied and chewy. Tight and beautiful. Drink or hold." 92 points - James Suckling (Oct. 2020)
