Revisited in bottle, Fourrier's 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes mingles aromas of cherries, berries and cassis with hints of soil and warm spices, framed by a deft application of glossy new oak. Medium to full-bodied, rich and gourmand, with a ripe core of fruit, powdery tannins and lively acids, it has turned out very nicely in the generous style of the vintage. WK (1/2021)

John Gilman - The View from the Cellar

The old vine bottling of Gevrey AC from Jean-Marie Fourrier is a bit more ripe and jammy than the Chambolle. The nose wafts from the glass in a mélange of red and black raspberries, woodsmoke, plenty of spices and just a dollop of soil tones. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, long and juicy at the core, with suave, understated tannins and a long, fruit-driven finish that promises early accessibility. This is not bad at all, but in most vintages, there is more soil signature, and this may arrive in the 2018 with further bottle age. (Drink between 2022-2050)
