2018 Domaine Francois et Antoine Jobard Meursault (750ml)15 2 0 0
The 2018 Meursault Village comes from three parcels: Sous La Velle, Les Corbins and Les Chaumes. It has an elegant bouquet of fresh white peaches, citrus lemon and light wet limestone aromas, reminiscent of a Jean-Marc Roulot. There is a light tangy orange peel note on the entry of this well-balanced, quite deep wine. The persistent ginger-tinged finish fans out gently in a satisfying manner. Excellent. Outstanding Top Value!!
There is an interesting hint of spiced, even exotic, tea to the aromas of hazelnut, white flower and pear. There is slightly better volume if less minerality to the bracingly intense middle weight flavors that possess excellent delineation before concluding in a very dry, youthfully austere and linear finale. This is lovely and understated in style. (6/2020)John Gilman
The Jobard family’s Meursault AC bottling is made from three lieux à dits, including the currently quite fashionable Chaumes de Perrières. Antoine Jobard vinifies the fruit from all three together to make a seamless cuvée and the 2018 version is quite pretty, offering up a lovely nose of apple, a touch of orange zest, almond, a fine base of soil, citrus peel and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and already nicely expressive, with a good core, sound acids and good bounce and length on the open and well balanced finish.
