To pay homage to the special friendship between Giuseppe and Domizio, the property which locally had been known as Cascina Casotto, was re-named after the pine tree and is now the Cantina del Pino.

Branching out from the legendary Produttori del Barbaresco Cooperative, Renato Vacca (the great grandson of Giuseppe Vacca) convinced his father, Adriano, to start their own label in 1997. In 2013 Franca (Renato’s wife) joined the winery. Unfortunately, Renato passed in 2020. Franca, a winemaker in her own right, along with Renato’s parents continues the traditions and dedication to the quality wines of Cantina del Pino, the historic winery on the Ovello Hill.

Distinctive for its balsamic notes of green olive and juniper, with flavors of earth, plum, blackberry and iron. There’s breadth, and this red is balanced in a youthful way. Should knit together nicely in a few years. Best from 2029 through 2047. 250 cases made, 100 cases imported.” 95 - Bruce Sanderson, Senior Editor, The Wine Spectator (3/26)

"From Sant’Agata fossil marl soils, the 2021 Barbaresco Albesani pours a slightly deeper transparent ruby color. Aromatically, it delivers notes of raspberries, pressed flowers, stony earth, and violets. On the palate, it offers more depth and a gentle silkiness to the fruit that works seamlessly with the tannins and acidity. This balances richness with poise. Drink 2026-2040.” 95 - Audrey Frick, Jeb Dunnick (4/26)

"The Cantina del Pino 2021 Barbaresco Albesani has an especially floral bouquet with dried rose petal and a savory touch of redwood or cedar. This wine carries a high 15% alcohol content, and although it remains relatively contained within the mid-weight fiber of the wine, it does stand out. It spends 24 months in botte grande and 18 months in bottle in order to capture the elegance of the fruit. This wine will hit the market in September 2025, with a release of 3,000 bottles. Drink Date: 2026 - 2040.” 94+ - Monica Larner, The Wine Advocate (6/25)
