2020 Chacra Chardonnay Mainqué (750ml)15 2 0 0
Chacra was created by Piero Incisa della Rocchetta in 2004 with the intention of finding the most unobstructed expression of the climate, micro-climate, and terrior of Mainqué in the Río Negro region of Patagonia. Respecting the environment by following biodynamic and organic principles, Piero strives to make wines that are transparent, pure, delicate, and floral with strong minerality. The wines are produced with the help of Jean-Marc Roulot (of Burgundy fame), particularly for the Chardonnay. Jean-Marc is not a consultant here. He's a co-owner.
The Mainqué is done in collaboration with Jean-Marc Roulot. Fermented in barrel without malolactic, it spends 11 months in barrique.
"Very flinty and minerally on the nose with some aniseed and sliced green-apple aromas that follow through to a medium-to full-bodied palate with a creamy texture and pretty apple, citrus and nougat flavors. Creamy and long. Subtle and fine. From the owner of Chacra and Burgundy’s Jean-Marc Roulot. Very drinkable now, but will improve." 94 points - James Suckling (18 Mar, 2021)
