"Since Julien Brechet took control of his family’s 26-hectare estate in 2006, Domaine des Bosquets has been moving steadily, if not swiftly, up the Gigondas hierarchy, and in 2016 they produced not only some of the best wines of the appellation but of the entire southern Rhône. Brechet is a tireless worker and his vines are impeccably maintained. With the consultation of the ubiquitous Philippe Cambie, Brechet is making wines of significant depth as well as energy that, in terms of sheer fruit power and expression, are among the best values of the region at the high end, where they are comfortably ensconced." - Josh Raynolds (Vinous)

The 2016 Le Plateau Gigondas is a blend of 70% Mourvèdre, 10% Grenache, 10% Cinsault, 10% Syrah .

"Bright and juicy, with lovely plum, anise, boysenberry and black cherry compote flavors. Racy acidity and a fine chalky spine give this an elegant profile overall, with a silky texture and refinement in the end. Best from 2019 through 2035. 200 cases made, 25 cases imported. 95 points " — JM (Wine Spectator, Oct. 2018)

"Virtually all Mourvèdre (there are a few Grenache and Syrah vines mixed in), the 2016 Gigondas Le Plateau was fermented as whole bunches and developed an exotic nose, ranging from hints of flowers and herbs to fraises des bois, cherries, plums and pineapple. It's full-bodied and rich, with a supple mid-palate and firm tannins on the finish. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. 95 points " - Joe Czerwinski (Wine Advocate, Aug. 2018)

"Bright violet. Expressive blackberry, cassis, incense and spicecake scents show impressive clarity and pick up a smoky mineral nuance with air. Sweet and seamless in the mouth, offering deeply concentrated red and dark fruit preserve, star anise and violet pastille flavors that are given focus and spine by a core of juicy acidity. Deftly blends richness and finesse and finishes extremely long and sappy; pliant tannins add shape and grip. 94 points " - Josh Raynolds (Vinous, April 2018)
