"While the 2018s from this great estate are gorgeous wines that show the charming, elegant style of the vintage, the 2019s are a clear step up, and my money is on them being some of the wines of the vintage.
"The 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape Cuvée Chaupin looks to be a magical wine in the making. It has everything you could want from this region as well as from Grenache. Revealing a medium ruby/purple, almost opaque color as well as a gorgeous bouquet of kirsch liqueur, wild strawberries, loamy soil, peppery garrigue, and flowers, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a seamless, multi-dimensional texture, ultra-fine tannins, and a blockbuster of a finish. This is one of those incredible wines that delivers serious intensity and richness yet stays weightless and is as elegant as they come. It’s going to be approachable with just 2-3 years of bottle age yet will have 20 years or more of longevity." 96-99 points - Jeb Dunnuck (Oct. 2020)
"Amazing aerial freshness to the aromas - somehow both full-bodied but weightless with a perfect balance. This is silky smooth, a very elegant wine with a touch of blackcurrant to the raspberry fruits. The alcohol is warming on the finish however. Parcels of Grenache planted on lieux-dits Chapouin, La Janasse and La Crau, the oldest planted in 1912. Drinking Window 2021 - 2036" 95 points - Matt Walls (Decanter, Oct. 2020)
"Tasted blind. Pruney pure nose, wild strawberry and leather. Lovely weight. Finely balanced tannins that are fine and show finesse. A cocoa character with vibrant fruit and plenty of fresh acidity. Nice and fresh style – bravo! 17.5/20 points - Alistair Cooper MW (jancisrobinson.com, Oct. 2020)
