2018 Sandhi Santa Rita Hills Pinot Noir (750ml)
"The 2018 Pinot Noir (Sta. Rita Hills) is a glorious wine." AG
We just tasted and flipped over the Sandhi Santa Rita Hills Pinot Noir made by the one and only, Raj Parr. It is hard to believe a Pinot under $30 can taste this good but it is a testament to the pedigree of vineyards and winemaking skill. The Pinot is mainly sourced from Domaine De La Cote which, in the same vintage received the highest score from Vinous for all 2018 Pinots tasted from the region. This is an absolute gem of a wine, ideal for guilt free weeknight enjoyment or a ringer in a tasting of much pricier bottles.
"The 2018 Pinot Noir (Sta. Rita Hills) is a glorious wine. A burst of sweet red/purplish fruit makes a strong opening statement that reverberates off layers of savory and floral intensity. Deceptive in its mid-weight structure, the 2018 packs a serious punch. Readers who want to get a sense of the year would do well to start here. This striking appellation-level Pinot is one of the overachievers of the year. Then again, vineyard sites are Domaine de La Côte and Sanford & Benedict, which was not bottled separately, but used for wine. The 30% whole clusters are perfectly judged." - 93 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous)
