2018 Vincent Dancer Meursault Les Corbins (750ml)15 14 0 0
Allen Meadows - Burghound
Ripe aromas include those of citrus peel, hazelnut and a mix of mostly white-fleshed fruit. The very rich, even opulent, forward and round flavors possess excellent mid-palate volume while exhibiting solid length on the citrus-tinged finish. This isn't racy but it is refreshing in its fashion.
The always thoughtful Vincent Dancer manages 6.2 ha of vineyards and describes 2018 as "a warmer and notably dry vintage that was at times sufficiently dry to invoke periods of hydric stress in the vines. In much the same way as 2017, the growing season was largely straightforward with no particular difficulties beyond some early frost risk. I chose to begin picking on the 30th of August and brought in acceptable but not better yields as they were only about 80% of a normal crop. The alcoholic fermentations were steady but quite slow. As to the wines, I am impressed by the quality as I frankly didn't expect how fresh they would be given the heat of the vintage." Dancer noted that the had just sulfured the wines so some of them were reduced. (6/2020)
